Wellesley downs Tavistock in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Matt Schieck gave the Wellesley Applejacks a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Tavistock Braves when he scored 26 seconds into the extra period.

Wellesley came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Applejacks trailed 2-0 after a goal by Tavistock's Angus Rowland at 3:27 in the second period. Wellesley knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Jamie Shoemaker at 16:02 in the third period.

The Applejacks were led by Schieck, who finished with one goal and one assist.

Wellesley was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes.

Others who scored for Wellesley included Paul Morra, Taylor Doering, and Tyler Seguin, who each put in one. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Coleton Madge, who had one and Cal Jefferies, who had three.

The Braves were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances.

Tavistock additionally got points from Shaun Pickering, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Shoemaker, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Tavistock came via Jared Yantzi, Jake Wiffen, Josh Higgins, and Jordan Ritsma, who each chipped in one.

Tim Bester made 27 saves for the Applejacks on 30 shots. Wellesley registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Ben Larder recorded 11 saves for Tavistock. The Braves incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
