The New Hamburg Firebirds had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Burford Bulldogs.

Burford's power play was ineffective against New Hamburg's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Firebirds were led by Shawn Antonides, who tallied one goal. Antonides scored 46 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Hamburg. Brodie Muckler picked up the assist.

The Firebirds ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andrew Boer was ejected from the game. The Bulldogs' Michael Black stopped 18 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Burford incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For the Bulldogs, Kolby Francis was ejected from the game.
