Ayr survives Wellesley comeback, wins 6-4Wellesley Sat, Oct 18, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Ayr Centennials, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Wellesley Applejacks and clinched a 6-4 victory. Ayr led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Centennials' Austin Sine scored at 9:54 in the third period to put Ayr up 5-2. The Centennials got the win with help from a great game by Anthony Pullia, who had two goals and one assist. Pullia scored the first of his two goals at 8:55 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Ayr. Jeff Howlett provided the assist. Pullia's next tally made the score 6-4 Ayr with 35 seconds left in the third period. Eric Hackborn assisted on the tally. Ayr kept Wellesley's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tim Bester made 36 saves on 42 shots. Ayr additionally got points from Howlett, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Hackborn, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Ayr also got a goal from Jackson White as well. More assists for Ayr came via Mackenzie Kemp, Austin Kovrig, Andrew Richard, and Brendan Schaefer, who contributed one each. The Applejacks were led by Chris Beauchesne, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Beauchesne scored on the power play 9:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellesley. Wellesley had gained a power play chance when Jordan Pettitt was whistled for cross checking. Coleton Madge provided the assist. Wellesley also had goals scored by Paul Morra, Taylor Doering, and Reid Denstedt, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Jake Wilkinson, who had one and Cal Jefferies, who had two. Will Rawski rejected 20 shots on goal for the Centennials. Ayr incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Applejacks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
