New Hamburg downs Burford, 6-3

Jay Fried grabbed two points to lead the New Hamburg Firebirds to a 6-3 victory over the Burford Bulldogs.

New Hamburg forced Burford goalie Riley Edwards to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Firebirds' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

New Hamburg also got points from Ben Playfair, who also had one goal and one assist, Andrew Boer, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Jaden Goetz, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for New Hamburg included Quinten Haddock and Brodie Muckler, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for New Hamburg were Nolan Blum, who had two and Kory Nowak and Chris Eckert, who contributed one each.

The Bulldogs were helped by Kyle Walker, who grabbed one goal. Walker scored on the power play 14:13 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Burford. Burford had taken the advantage when New Hamburg's Anthony Osterling got sent off for interference. Alex Hall assisted on the tally. Burford also had goals scored by Connor Merritt and Mitch Randell, who scored one goal each. In addition, Burford received assists from Adam Harris, who had two and Chris Grand and Matt Dipaolo AP, who each chipped in one.

Ryan Purcell recorded 26 saves for the Firebirds. New Hamburg totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and had no power play opportunities. Edwards rejected 30 shots on goal for the Bulldogs. Burford totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
