Nauts' goals lift Woodstock to 5-1 victory over Delhi

The Woodstock Navy Vets relied on the scoring touch of Chris Nauts, who netted two goals, to beat the Delhi Travellers, 5-1.

Nauts scored at 3:11 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Woodstock and again while on the power play 18:40 into the third to make the score 5-1 Woodstock.

Woodstock's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Delhi power plays. The Navy Vets' offense rang up 33 shots on Delhi's net. Woodstock found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Navy Vets average 2.9 goals per contest.

Woodstock additionally got points from Mike Gillespie, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Woodstock also had goals scored by Austin Richardson and Braden Hutchison, who scored one goal each. More assists for Woodstock came via Nick Mercier, Michael Nutt, Mackenzie Langford, Tyler Lyons, Max Coyle, Jeremy Racicot, and Dan Haig, who contributed one each.

The Travellers were led by Kelsey Van Ymeren, who scored the team's only goal. Van Ymeren scored 9:53 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Delhi. Kyle Vigar assisted on the tally.

Woodstock's Jackson Swindells stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Navy Vets incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nick Heath made 28 saves for Delhi on 33 shots. The Travellers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Delhi, Nevin Guenther was ejected from the game.
