Denstedt's hat trick boosts Wellesley over Norwich, 3-2

A hat trick by Reid Denstedt was the highlight in Applejacks' 3-2 win against the Norwich Merchants.

Denstedt's first goal came 13:59 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:07 into the third and at 12:03 into the third.

The Wellesley Applejacks' penalty kill excelled, as Wellesley gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Jake Wilkinson also scored for Wellesley. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Matt Schiek, who had two and Paul Morra, Cal Jefferies, Blake Hetherington, and Sean McEwan, who each chipped in one.

Norwich forced the Applejacks goalie Tim Bester to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Merchants were led by Troy Lamoure, who had one goal and one assist. Lamoure scored on the power play 12:18 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Wellesley. Norwich had gained a power play chance when Jefferies was whistled for holding. Ryan Stephenson provided the assist. Norwich also got a goal from Jordan Gillis as well. In addition, Norwich received assists from Austin Sloot and Kurtis Lavis, who contributed one each.

Bester recorded 32 saves for Wellesley. The Applejacks incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Merchants' Justin Pacheco stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Norwich ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Merchants, Mitchell Berzins and Braeden Shand were ejected from the contest.
