The New Hamburg Firebirds were firing on all cylinders against the Burford Bulldogs, and when the final buzzer sounded Firebirds emerged with a 5-2 win. New Hamburg's penalty kill excelled, as the Firebirds gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. New Hamburg was sparked by Chris Eckert, who tallied one goal and one assist. Eckert scored on the power play 16:11 into the first period to make the score 2-0 New Hamburg. The Firebirds had gotten the advantage when Burford's Luc Hartholt was sent off for cross checking. Brandon Quan picked up the assist. New Hamburg was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of 10 man advantages. New Hamburg also got points from Colin Martin, who also registered one goal and one assist, Kory Nowak, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Quinten Haddock, who also had one goal and one assist. New Hamburg also got a goal from Taylor Wood as well. The Bulldogs forced the Firebirds goalie Ryan Purcell to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Burford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 42 minutes in penalties during the game. Ryan Purcell made 31 saves for New Hamburg on 33 shots. The Firebirds incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Riley Edwards recorded 17 saves for the Bulldogs.
