Paris beats Tavistock 4-0 as McLean gains shutout

Davis McLean recorded a shutout against the Tavistock Braves as the Paris Mounties picked up a 4-0 win.

Paris' penalty kill excelled, as the Mounties gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays.

Paris was often in penalty trouble, totaling 17 minors and one major for 89 minutes in penalty time. The Mounties surpassed its season average of 32.0 penalty minutes per game. Paris stifled Tavistock's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mounties was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Paris allows 2.4 goals per game. The Mounties' offense rang up 33 shots on the Braves' net. Paris got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

The Mounties were helped by Brady Wheelans, who registered one goal. Wheelans scored 51 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Paris. Brodie Smith provided the assist. Paris also got points from Mitchell Harvey, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Paris included Andrew Heibein and Clayton Chalmers, who each put in one. In addition, Paris received assists from Zach Taylor and Austin Cox, who contributed one each.

Tavistock excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. The Braves were held below their usual level of production. Tavistock averages 2.8 goals per game. The Braves could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 98 minutes in penalties during the game.

McLean rejected 25 shots on goal for Paris. Team's Richard Brooks and Merrit Crumback were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Ben Larder made 29 saves for Tavistock on 31 shots.
