Huge game by Francis boosts Burford over Delhi, 7-3Burford Community Centre Sat, Oct 04, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Behind a great game by Kolby Francis, who had one goal and three assists, the Burford Bulldogs defeated the Delhi Travellers, 7-3. Francis got on the board by slotting home a short handed goal 6:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Burford. Burford was on a disadvantage when Mitch Randell went off the ice for hooking. Francis dished an assist on Jesse Brooks's goal that made the score 3-1 Burford at 10:30 into the first period. He then added assists on Randell's goal at 7:57 into the second and on Brooks' goal at 19:55 into the third.The Bulldogs' penalty kill excelled, as Burford gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays. The Bulldogs forced Delhi goalie Nick Heath to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Burford found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Bulldogs average 4.6 goals per contest. Burford also got points from Chris Grand, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Burford included Broidy Rondelet and Jack Battaglia, who scored one goal each. In addition, Burford received assists from Owen Hinch, Connor Merritt, Blaise Burtnick, Kyle Walker, and Hayden Stewart, who each chipped in one. Burford was unable to stop the Travellers from sending pucks towards the net, and Delhi eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. The Travellers were helped by Ryan MacLeod, who registered one goal. MacLeod scored 9:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Burford. Delhi additionally got points from Brendan Schreider, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Delhi also got a goal from Jordan Betzold as well. More assists for Delhi came via Taylor Hockley, who had one and M.J. Barnes, who had two. The Bulldogs' Michael Black stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Burford incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Heath rejected 30 shots on goal for Delhi. The Travellers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
