Wellesley boosted by Bester's play in net, beats Woodstock 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Tim Bester helped the Wellesley Applejacks defeat the Woodstock Navy Vets, 4-1.

Wellesley was led by Chris Beauchesne, who tallied one goal. Beauchesne scored 11:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Wellesley. Matt Schiek assisted on the tally.

The Applejacks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Wellesley additionally got points from Taylor Doering, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Reid Denstedt, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Tyler Seguin also scored for Wellesley. More assists for Wellesley came via Paul Morra, Sean McEwan, and Jacob Younger, who contributed one each.

Woodstock kept Wellesley's goalie busy throughout the game, and Bester made 31 saves on 32 shots.

The Navy Vets were led by Justin Elms, who scored the team's only goal. Elms scored 2:53 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Wellesley. Dylan Wettlaufer picked up the assist.

The Applejacks totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Wellesley ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Coleton Madge was ejected from the game. Michael Roefs made 18 saves for Woodstock on 21 shots. The Navy Vets ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Woodstock, Garrett Whetham was ejected from the game.
