Burford blows out Wellesley, 6-1

The Wellesley Applejacks had trouble finding ways to stop the Burford Bulldogs, which beat Applejacks, 6-1.

Burford was led by goalie Riley Edwards, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Edwards certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.77 entering the contest.

The Bulldogs' penalty kill excelled, as Burford gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Bulldogs stifled Wellesley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Applejacks were unable to stop Burford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bulldogs eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Burford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Bulldogs were helped by Chris Grand, who registered one goal. Grand scored 13:11 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Burford. Mitch Randell provided the assist. Burford additionally got points from Broidy Rondelet, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Adam Harris, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Burford also got a goal from Connor Merritt as well. More assists for Burford came via Owen Hinch and Jesse Brooks, who contributed one each and Hayden Stewart and Kyle Walker, who each chipped in two.

Wellesley was led by Cal Jefferies, who scored the team's only goal. Jefferies scored 19:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Burford.

Burford registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. For the Bulldogs, Jordan MacKenzie was ejected from the game. Tim Bester made 36 saves for the Applejacks on 42 shots. Wellesley incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Applejacks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyler Seguin was ejected from the game.
