Paris blows out Norwich, 6-2

The Paris Mounties had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Norwich Merchants.

Paris' penalty kill excelled, as the Mounties gave up one goal despite allowing 13 power plays.

Paris was led by Scott Sippel, who racked up one goal. Sippel scored 10:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Paris. Tye Calder picked up the assist.

The Mounties' goal total was higher than their season average. Paris has scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign. The Mounties' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Paris finished with 46 penalty minutes.

Paris additionally got points from Brodie Smith, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Paris also got a goal from Clayton Chalmers as well. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Brett Banks, Mitchell Harvey, Richard Brooks, and Alex Daley, who contributed one each and Brady Wheelans and Merrit Crumback, who each chipped in two.

Norwich was led by Mitchell Berzins, who had one goal. Berzins scored 10:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Paris. Kurtis Lavis also scored for Norwich. In addition, Norwich received assists from Austin Sloot and Cam Moulton, who contributed one each.

Davis McLean rejected 19 shots on goal for the Mounties. Paris registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Patrick Maziarz recorded 22 saves for the Merchants. Norwich incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Merchants ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Moulton was ejected from the game.
