GAME RECAP

Wellesley rips Paris, 4-1

Brant Sports Complex    Sat, Sep 13, 2014

The Paris Mounties had trouble finding ways to stop the Wellesley Applejacks, which beat Mounties, 4-1.

Wellesley's Tim Bester was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 39 saves and let only one puck past him. Despite the solid performance, Bester will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest.

Paris' power play was ineffective against the Applejacks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Wellesley stifled the Mounties' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Applejacks were helped by Jacob Younger, who registered one goal. Younger scored 9:53 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Wellesley. Sean McEwan picked up the assist. Wellesley also had goals scored by Taylor Doering, Felix Lantaigne, and Cal Jefferies, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Blake Hetherington, who had two and Paul Morra, Reid Denstedt, Coleton Madge, and Justin Lebold, who contributed one each.

Wellesley was unable to stop Paris from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mounties eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

The Applejacks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Zach Shompe recorded 25 saves for Paris. The Mounties incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
