Gibson lifts Erin over Midland, 6-1North Simcoe SRC Fri, Jan 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Adam Gibson was all over the ice for the Erin Shamrocks, as he tallied five goals in Erin's 6-1 win over the Midland Flyers. Gibson got on the scoresheet 51 seconds into the second period. He then added goals at 53 seconds into the third, at 3:40 into the third, at 4:57 into the third, and at 14:57 into the third.Midland was stymied by the Shamrocks' netminder Tom Denstedt, who stopped 41 shots during the victory. Denstedt certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.46 entering the contest. The Flyers' seven penalties came back to haunt them, as Midland let up four goals while on the penalty kill. Erin stifled the Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Shamrocks forced Midland goalie Matt Camilleri to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Erin outdid its season average for goals scored. The Shamrocks average 3.9 goals per game. Erin also got a goal from Josh Tremblay as well. More assists for Erin came via Tyler Topham, who had three, Owen Adamson and Connor Mortimer, who each chipped in one, and Adam Ferrer and Chris Grenier, who contributed two each. The Flyers were held below their usual level of production. Midland averages 3.3 goals per game. The Flyers' offense rang up 42 shots on Erin's net. Midland was led by Callan Heins, who scored the team's only goal. Heins scored 16:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Midland. Steven Pickard assisted on the tally. The Shamrocks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Camilleri recorded 26 saves for the Flyers. Midland incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
