Caledon falls to Alliston after surprising comeback

The Alliston Hornets rallied from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over the Caledon Golden Hawks.

Alliston never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Hornets fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Caledon's Ben Ardis at 3:48 in the third period. Alliston knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Steve Griggs at 8:04 in the third period. The Hornets netted the game winner at 15:48 in the third period on a goal by Griggs.

Alliston's penalty kill excelled, as the Hornets gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Alliston stifled the Golden Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Caledon was unable to stop the Hornets from sending pucks towards the net, and Alliston eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The Hornets were helped by Tanner Dockerty, who grabbed one goal. Jamie Bennett also scored for Alliston. Other players who recorded assists for Alliston were Andrew Ceolin, Nick Arcan, Matt Taylor, and Nic Archibald, who contributed one each.

The Golden Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Alliston to score on any of its four power plays.

Caledon was helped by Daniel Cafagna, who tallied one goal. Cafagna scored 7:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledon. Cody Forgione assisted on the tally. In addition, Caledon received assists from Derek Czech, who had one.

TJ Sherwood recorded 19 saves for the Hornets. Alliston incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Sam Procopio rejected 32 shots on goal for the Golden Hawks. Caledon incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Golden Hawks, Mike Bozzelli was ejected from the game.
