Canada Summit Centre    Sun, Jan 04, 2015

The Huntsville Otters survived a determined comeback attempt by the Penetang Kings on the way to a 5-4 win.

Huntsville took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Penetang storm back on a Nate Archer goal 12:08 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Otters got the win with help from a great game by Myles York, who had one goal and two assists. York scored on the power play 2:47 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Huntsville. Huntsville had taken the advantage when the Kings' David Pearce got sent off for interference. Tanner Hamilton assisted on the tally.

The Otters' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Penetang power plays. Huntsville forced Penetang goalie Ruan Badenhorst (APM) to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Huntsville also got points from Jake McIntyre, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Huntsville included Jay Dix, Sam King, and Jamie Halnan, who each put in one. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Elliott Lade, Josh Zantingh, Riley Vogels, Dalton Mceachran, Corey Miller, and Evan Lade, who contributed one each.

The Kings' offense rang up 33 shots on the Otters' net. Penetang's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to Huntsville's power play unit.

Penetang also had goals scored by Kyle Dedecker and Matt VanBoven, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Zach Bertucca, Ryan Hackett, and Craig Robinson, who each chipped in one.
