Midland beats Erin 6-3 as DeRose gets hat trick

The Erin Shamrocks could not stop the Midland Flyers' Corey DeRose, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win.

DeRose notched his first tally 53 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 4:04 into the first and at 12:54 into the second.

Midland found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Flyers average 3.4 goals per game.

Midland additionally got points from Bobby Logan, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Evan Buehler, who also registered one goal and two assists. Midland also got a goal from Neal Burgess as well. In addition, Midland received assists from Tully Jackson and Steven Pickard, who each chipped in two.

Erin was led by Adam Gibson, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Gibson scored the first of his two goals at 12:59 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Tyler Topham assisted on the tally. Gibson's next tally made the score 4-3 Midland with 17:40 left in the third period. Liam Adamson picked up the assist. Erin also got points from Topham, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Erin came via Darcy Hackett, who had one.

Midland's Jake Norton stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mark Terry rejected 20 shots on goal for the Shamrocks. Erin incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Shamrocks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Connor Mortimer was ejected from the game.
