Huntsville vanquishes Penetang in shootout, 6-5 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Huntsville Otters defeated the Penetang Kings in a shootout 6-5 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams.

Huntsville saw a three-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Otters made the score 5-2 on a goal by Jay Dix at 12:36 in the second period. Penetang evened things up at 5-5 on a goal by Jessey Moreau at 5:42 in the third period.

Huntsville's penalty kill excelled, as the Otters gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Huntsville stifled the Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Otters' offense rang up 49 shots on Penetang's net.

Huntsville was helped by Myles York, who tallied one goal. York scored 16:51 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jake McIntyre assisted on the tally. Huntsville additionally got points from Jesse Houlton, who also had one goal and one assist and McIntyre, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Sam King also scored for Huntsville. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Tyler Brown and Brendan Fitter, who each chipped in one and Elliott Lade, Dalton Mceachran, and Jamie Halnan, who contributed two each.

The Kings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Penetang kept the Otters' goalie busy throughout the game, and Connor Christianson made 45 saves on 50 shots.

Penetang also got points from Dan Hogan, who also registered one goal and one assist, Nate Archer, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Jared Robertson, who also had one goal and one assist. Penetang also had goals scored by Zach Bertucca and Jordan Schwartz, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Craig Robinson, who had two and Matt Meher, Ryan Hackett, David Pearce, and Matt VanBoven, who each chipped in one.

Huntsville incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Adam Redgate rejected 43 shots on goal for the Kings. Penetang incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
