Huntsville blows out Fergus, 8-0Canada Summit Centre Fri, Nov 28, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Fergus Devils had trouble finding ways to stop the Huntsville Otters, which beat Devils, 8-0. Huntsville got the win thanks to a great game by Brendan Fitter, who had one goal and two assists. Fitter scored 4:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Myles York picked up the assist. The Otters pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 49 penalty minutes. Huntsville forced Fergus' netminders to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots and forcing 28 saves. Alex Elliott made five stops and David Serra made 23. The Otters stifled the Devils' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Huntsville bested its season scoring average. The Otters average 4.2 goals per game. Huntsville additionally got points from Josh Zantingh, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Jake McIntyre, who also had one goal and two assists, Jamie Halnan, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Nathan Zantingh, who also registered one goal and one assist, and York, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Tyler Brown also scored for Huntsville. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Myles Bissonette, Riley Vogels, and Cody Jones APM, who contributed one each. Fergus racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and two majors for 74 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 25.0 minutes per game the Devils had been spending in the box. Fergus forced Huntsville's goalies to work in net, launching 36 shots and forcing 36 saves. Connor Christianson made 24 stops and Hunter Ferguson made 12. The Devils could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Fergus puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The Otters registered one goal on 10 power play opportunities. Team's Sean Crowe and Christianson were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Devils registered zero goals on eight power play opportunities. For Fergus, Griffin Heitshu, Mike Traves, and Brock Philips were ejected from the contest.
