Huge game by Bonaldi boosts Caledon over Schomberg, 7-4

Behind a great game by Christian Bonaldi, who had one goal and three assists, the Caledon Golden Hawks defeated the Schomberg Cougars, 7-4.

Bonaldi scored 9:41 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Caledon. Daniel Cafagna assisted on the tally. Bonaldi dished an assist on Ben Ardis's goal that made the score 2-1 Caledon at 8:22 into the first period. He then added assists on Christian Mariconda's goal at 18:24 into the second and on Ryan Mouser's goal at 7:56 into the third.

Caledon surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Golden Hawks average 3.3 goals per game. Caledon was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances.

Caledon also got points from Ardis, who also had one goal and one assist and Mariconda, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Michael Andrews also scored for Caledon. In addition, Caledon received assists from Nicholas McNutt, who had two and Jake Mottershaw and Cody Forgione, who contributed one each.

Schomberg was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes.

The Cougars were helped by Nathan Sinclair, who grabbed one goal. Sinclair scored 1:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Schomberg. Derek Neilly provided the assist. Schomberg additionally got points from Kiefer McIntosh, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Schomberg included JP Crescenzi and John Gage, who each put in one. More assists for Schomberg came via Francesco Corona, Blake Culley, Brandon Yorke, and Connor Whiteside, who each chipped in one.

Sam Procopio made 14 saves for the Golden Hawks on 18 shots. Caledon incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Taylor Ewart recorded 23 saves for Schomberg. The Cougars registered one goal on one power play opportunities.
