Alliston blows out Caledon, 8-2

The Alliston Hornets were firing on all cylinders against the Caledon Golden Hawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Hornets emerged with an 8-2 win.

Alliston got the win behind a great game by Nic Archibald, who had one goal and two assists. Archibald scored 16:17 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alliston. Mark ODonnell provided the assist.

Caledon's power play was ineffective against the Hornets' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Alliston outdid its season average for goals scored. The Hornets average 5.2 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Alliston also got points from Steve Griggs, who also had two goals and one assist, Jacob Tuck, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Nick Arcan, who also registered one goal and two assists. Alliston also got a goal from Matt Taylor as well. More assists for Alliston came via Matt Cochrane, who had one and Jamie Bennett, Payton Dunlop, and Tanner Dockerty, who each chipped in two.

The Golden Hawks' offense were handcuffed by Alliston's defensive play, and Caledon managed only 13 shots on goal during the game. The Golden Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 44 minutes in penalties during the game.

Caledon was led by James Pitsadiotis, who racked up one goal. Pitsadiotis scored on the power play 2:10 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Alliston. The Golden Hawks had gotten the advantage when the Hornets' Archibald was sent off for interference. Derek Czech assisted on the tally. Christian Bonaldi also scored for Caledon. In addition, Caledon received assists from Jake Mottershaw, Steve Zeppieri, and Ryan Mouser, who contributed one each.

TJ Sherwood rejected 11 shots on goal for Alliston. The Hornets incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. James Cyfko made 14 saves for Caledon on 22 shots. For the Golden Hawks, Adam Breen was ejected from the game.
