Huntsville blows out Schomberg, 6-2

The Schomberg Cougars had trouble finding ways to stop the Huntsville Otters, which beat Cougars, 6-2.

Huntsville's penalty kill excelled, as the Otters gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Huntsville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 68 minutes in penalties during the game.

Schomberg forced the Otters goalie Hunter Ferguson to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. The Cougars were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 52 penalty minutes.

Schomberg was helped by Declan Lampe, who registered two goals. Lampe scored the first of his two goals at 8:09 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Huntsville. Brandon Savoy assisted on the tally. Lampe's next tally made the score 5-2 Huntsville with 2:52 left in the second period. The Cougars had gotten the advantage when Huntsville's Tyler Kalbe APM was sent off for slashing. Blake Culley provided the assist.

Ferguson recorded 44 saves for the Otters. Huntsville registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Schomberg took out Alex Traikos after he had made 15 saves and installed Taylor Ewart in goal, where he finished with nine saves and the loss.
