Elliott leads Fergus to shutout victory over Orillia

Alex Elliott made 27 saves to complete the shutout and led the Fergus Devils to a 3-0 win against the Orillia Terriers.

Fergus was led by Jack Vautour, who registered one goal. Vautour scored on the power play 7:48 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Fergus. The Devils had gotten the advantage when Orillia's Jackson Gunner was sent off for roughing. James Murray provided the assist.

Fergus put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Terriers to score on any of their four power plays. Orillia was unable to stop the Devils from sending pucks towards the net, and Fergus eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Fergus additionally got points from Murray, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Mike Traves, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Fergus received assists from Ben Roelofson, Griffin Heitshu, and Dominic Wealthall, who each chipped in one.

The Terriers could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Orillia averages 3.3 goals per game.

The Devils incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Fergus, Mikael Ruffini was ejected from the game. Gordie Weiss rejected 35 shots on goal for the Terriers. Orillia incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Terriers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jason Stone was ejected from the game.
