ODonnell nets hat trick, leads Alliston to 5-2 win over MidlandNorth Simcoe SRC Sun, Oct 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Midland Flyers could not stop the Alliston Hornets' Mark ODonnell, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win. ODonnell got on the scoresheet 7:28 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:43 into the first and at 16:36 into the first.Alliston forced Flyers' goalies to work all game long, ripping 44 shots and forcing 39 saves. Brandon Klerer made 28 stops and Jake Norton made 11. The Hornets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Alliston got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Alliston also had goals scored by Gianluca Pallotta and Andrew Ceolin, who each put in one. In addition, Alliston received assists from Payton Dunlop, who had two and Tanner Dockerty and Nic Archibald, who each chipped in three. Midland managed to hold the Hornets' power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage. The Flyers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 52 penalty minutes for 13 opposing power plays. Midland was led by Evan Buehler, who racked up one goal. Buehler scored 15:50 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Alliston. Tully Jackson assisted on the tally. Jean-Philip Labonte also scored for Midland. Other players who recorded assists for Midland were Corey DeRose and Matt Smith, who contributed one each. Alliston's TJ Sherwood stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Hornets incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
