Alliston shrugs off penalties, upends Erin, 3-0

The Erin Shamrocks failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Alliston Hornets shook off a number of penalties to win, 3-0.

Alliston was sparked by Gianluca Pallotta, who racked up one goal. Pallotta scored 5:01 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Alliston. Brendan Spencer provided the assist.

The Hornets put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Erin to score on any of its seven power plays. Alliston was held below its usual level of production. The Hornets put an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game. The Shamrocks were unable to stop Alliston from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hornets eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Alliston also had goals scored by Steve Griggs and Jacob Tuck, who scored one goal each. More assists for Alliston came via Jamie Bennett, Payton Dunlop, Tanner Dockerty, and Matt Hamilton, who contributed one each.

Erin's offense operated below its season average. The Shamrocks average 2.8 goals per game.

Tyler Brindle rejected 15 shots on goal for Alliston. The Hornets incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Alliston ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andrew Ceolin was ejected from the game. Mark Terry recorded 37 saves for Erin. The Shamrocks incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
