Penetang squeaks by Orillia, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Penetang Kings escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Orillia Terriers.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Nate Archer secured the win for Penetang with a goal in the third period.

Orillia's power play was ineffective against the Kings' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Penetang was led by Matt Meher, who racked up one goal. Meher scored short handed 9:12 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Penetang. The Kings played down a man on Michael Paul's high sticking.

Penetang put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Terriers to score on any of their seven power plays. Orillia was unable to stop the Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Penetang eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

Penetang additionally got points from Archer, who also registered one goal and one assist and Craig Robinson, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Penetang also got a goal from Brandon Frandsen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Jordan Schwartz, Mackenzie Bumstead, and David Pearce, who contributed one each.

The Terriers' offense rang up 31 shots on the Kings' net.

Orillia was helped by Brock Welsh, who grabbed one goal. Welsh scored 18:05 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Penetang. Orillia also got points from Ryan Tucci, who also had one goal and one assist. Tyler Simmons also scored for Orillia. In addition, Orillia received assists from Andrew Windrem, who had one.

Adam Redgate recorded 29 saves for Penetang. The Kings incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Penetang ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Frandsen was ejected from the game. The Terriers' Gordie Weiss stopped 41 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Orillia incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
