Schomberg rides Ewart to victory over Erin, 2-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Taylor Ewart helped the Schomberg Cougars defeat the Erin Shamrocks, 2-1.

Schomberg's penalty kill excelled, as the Cougars gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Schomberg was paced by JP Crescenzi, who grabbed one goal. Crescenzi scored 17:11 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Schomberg. Kiefer McIntosh picked up the assist.

The Cougars stifled Erin's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Schomberg could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Schomberg also got a goal from Brandon Savoy as well. In addition, Schomberg received assists from Ryley Egerton, who had one.

The Shamrocks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cougars to score on any of their three power plays. Erin could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Shamrocks average 3.1 goals per game.

Erin was led by Mike Nicolucci, who scored the team's only goal. Nicolucci scored 6:32 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Ben Nicolucci assisted on the tally.

Ewart recorded 28 saves for Schomberg. Tom Denstedt made 28 saves for the Shamrocks on 30 shots. Erin incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
