Bloch leads Stayner to shutout victory over MidlandNorth Simcoe SRC Sun, Sep 28, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stayner Siskins used a sparkling performance by Trevor Bloch to take down the Midland Flyers, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Stayner's 3-0 shutout victory. The Siskins were paced by Derick Robertson, who tallied one goal. Robertson scored 5:50 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Stayner. Jackson Clarke assisted on the tally. Stayner stifled Midland's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Siskins featured an improved defense during the game. Stayner averages 2.3 goals allowed per game. Others who scored for Stayner included Quinton Bruce and Ben Lougheed, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Stayner were Spencer Ianetta, Ryan Hudson, and Sean Healy, who contributed one each. The Flyers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Siskins to score on any of their three power plays. Midland could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Flyers put an average of 2.3 pucks into the net per game. Stayner was unable to stop Midland from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flyers eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Bloch rejected 37 shots on goal for the Siskins. Stayner incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Siskins, Ryan Hyndman was ejected from the game. Brandon Klerer recorded 27 saves for Midland. The Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Midland ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Daniel Pickering was ejected from the game.
