Caledon uses early goal to top Fergus, 4-2

Christian Bonaldi gave the Caledon Golden Hawks the lead in the first period, and the Fergus Devils was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 4-2.

A goal 3:10 into the first period by Bonaldi proved to be the game winner, and powered Caledon to the victory. Cody Forgione picked up the assist.

The Golden Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fergus to score on any of its three power plays.

Others who scored for Caledon included Ben Ardis and James Pitsadiotas, who each put in one. In addition, Caledon received assists from Gaige Van - Asten, who had two and Steve Zeppieri and Daniel Cafagna, who contributed one each.

The Devils kept Caledon's goalie busy throughout the game, and James Cyfko made 39 saves on 41 shots.

Fergus was led by Mike Traves, who registered two goals. Traves scored the first of his two goals at 1:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Caledon. Matthew Clarke assisted on the tally. Traves' next tally made the score 3-2 Caledon with 7:45 left in the second period. Jack Vautour picked up the assist. More assists for Fergus came via Brock Philips, who had one.

The Golden Hawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Devils' Alex Elliott stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Fergus incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
