Penetang wins tough contest against Orillia, 5-3

The Penetang Kings gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Orillia Terriers.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Matt Meher at 16:58 of the third period.

Meher had two goals to lead Penetang to victory.

The Kings forced Orillia goalie Gordie Weiss to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Penetang also had goals scored by Jessey Moreau, David Pearce, and Matt VanBoven, who each put in one. In addition, Penetang received assists from Hayden Cole, who had two, Craig Robinson, who had three, and Jordan Schwartz and Ryan Hackett, who each chipped in one.

The Terriers' offense rang up 33 shots on Penetang's net.

Orillia was led by Jordan Felix, who finished with one goal and one assist. Felix scored 11:40 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Orillia. Joshua Bailey picked up the assist. Others who scored for Orillia included Jason Binnie and Brock Welsh, who scored one goal each. More assists for Orillia came via Ryan Tucci and Jackson Gunner, who contributed one each.

The Kings' Martin Lauzon stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Penetang incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Weiss rejected 32 shots on goal for the Terriers. Orillia incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
