Trisan Centre    Thu, Sep 11, 2014

The Schomberg Cougars had trouble finding ways to stop the Alliston Hornets, which beat Cougars, 5-0.

Alliston's penalty kill excelled, as the Hornets gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Alliston was sparked by Nic Archibald, who racked up one goal and one assist. Archibald scored on the power play 4:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alliston. The Hornets earned a power play opportunity when Brandon Yorke was put in the box for charging. Payton Dunlop picked up the assist.

The Cougars were unable to stop the Hornets from sending pucks towards the net, and Alliston eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Hornets got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Alliston also got points from Dunlop, who also registered two goals and one assist and Mark ODonnell, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Matt Hamilton also scored for Alliston. In addition, Alliston received assists from Tanner Dockerty, who had two and Steve Griggs and Joe Cochrane, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Brindle recorded 22 saves for Alliston. The Hornets incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Taylor Ewart made 33 saves for the Cougars on 38 shots. For Schomberg, Ian Reid was ejected from the game.
