Grimsby beats Niagara 1-0 as Currie gains shutout

Jeremy Currie recorded a shutout against the Niagara Riverhawks as the Grimsby Peach Kings picked up a 1-0 win.

Curtis Conrad's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 16:04 in the second period. Dillon Cipretti assisted on the tally.

Grimsby pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 10 penalty minutes.

The Peach Kings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Niagara to score on any of its six power plays. Grimsby's offense operated below its season average. The Peach Kings put an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. Grimsby's defensive effort looked to be improved. The Peach Kings average 2.4 goals allowed per game.

The Riverhawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Grimsby power plays. Niagara could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Riverhawks average 3.5 goals per game.

Currie rejected 29 shots on goal for Grimsby. Niagara's Sebastian Iannone stopped 26 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Riverhawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
