Dunnville downs Hagersville in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats' Damien Lalonde scored 1:12 into overtime to beat the Hagersville Hawks, 5-4 (OT).

Although Dunnville was up by as many as two goals in the second period, Hagersville kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Hawks pulled to within 4-3 on a goal by Nick Sherwood at 5:57 in the third period.

Lalonde had a great game for the Jr. Mudcats, netting two goals.

Dunnville struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 48 penalty minutes for 15 opposing power plays.

Dunnville also had goals scored by Matt Dolan, Steven Czepek, and Chad Springer, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Josh Meeuwse and Cole Scarlet, who each chipped in one and Mack Steele and Jeff May, who contributed two each.

Hagersville kept the Jr. Mudcats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brennan Head made 36 saves on 40 shots.

The Hawks were helped by Brayden Hill, who had one goal. Hill scored on the power play 1:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Hagersville had gotten the advantage when Dunnville's Evan Huckalo was sent off for delay of game. Jonathan Pace assisted on the tally. Hagersville additionally got points from Sherwood, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Hagersville included Kyle Phibbs and Mitch Green, who each put in one. More assists for Hagersville came via Travis Bell, Jacob Bianchi, Cole Martin, and Derek Friesen, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Mudcats registered one goal on two power play opportunities. The Hawks' Curtis Dortenzio stopped 15 shots out of the 20 that he faced. Hagersville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
