Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Niagara Riverhawks defeated the Hagersville Hawks in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout featured 12 attempts between both teams. Hagersville got a shootout goal from Matt Rimac. Niagara's other shootout goal was scored by Kyle Robertson.The Riverhawks came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Niagara trailed 3-0 after a goal by the Hawks' Kyle Phibbs at 10:51 in the second period. The Riverhawks knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Peter Falivena at 14:04 in the third period. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:09 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Niagara kept Hagersville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Curtis Dortenzio made 31 saves on 35 shots. Niagara also got points from Dylan Lazarus, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Patrick Norris also scored for Niagara. Other players who recorded assists for Niagara were Robertson, who had one. The Hawks stifled the Riverhawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Niagara was unable to stop Hagersville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Hagersville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 21 minutes in penalties during the game. The Hawks were helped by Cole Martin, who tallied one goal. Martin scored on the power play 5:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hagersville. Hagersville had taken the advantage when the Riverhawks' Shawn Epp got sent off for slashing. Matt Lemasurier picked up the assist. Hagersville also got a goal from Zach Maciel as well. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Jake Reichheld, who had one and Jonathan Pace, who had two. Sebastian Iannone made 43 saves for Niagara on 46 shots. The Riverhawks totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-7 on the power play. Niagara ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Luca Petriello was ejected from the game. The Hawks registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For Hagersville, Nick Sherwood was ejected from the game.
