Port Dover completes comeback, beats Dunnville, 4-3Dunnville Memorial Arena Fri, Jan 23, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Dover Sailors climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats, 4-3. Port Dover never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Sailors fell behind 3-0 after a power play goal by Dunnville's Josh Meeuwse at 6:04 in the second period. Port Dover tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Eric Mueller at 6:04 in the third period. The Sailors got the game winner on the power play at 6:49 in the third period on a goal by Mueller. Port Dover also had goals scored by Michael Boateng and Colin Streutker, who scored one goal each. More assists for Port Dover came via Michael Almas and Colin Montour, who each chipped in one. The Jr. Mudcats' offense rang up 33 shots on Port Dover's net. Dunnville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 42 minutes in penalties during the game. The Jr. Mudcats were helped by Steven Czepek, who grabbed two goals. Czepek scored the first of his two goals at 8:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dunnville. Mack Steele assisted on the tally. Czepek's next tally made the score 2-0 Dunnville with 6:29 left in the first period. Dunnville had gotten the advantage when the Sailors' Colton McLeod was sent off for checking from behind. Dan Arrowsmith picked up the assist. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Travis Sheldrake, Jeff May, and Luke Rowe, who contributed one each. Mike Caluori recorded 30 saves for Port Dover. The Sailors totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 3-for-10 on the power play. For Port Dover, Nick DeLuca and McLeod were ejected from the contest. The Jr. Mudcats' Brennan Head stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Dunnville registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
