Grimsby blows out Simcoe, 9-1

The Grimsby Peach Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Simcoe Storm, and when the final buzzer sounded Peach Kings emerged with a 9-1 win.

Brennan Smith was all over the ice for Grimsby, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Smith scored the first of his two goals at 14:09 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Grimsby. Garnet McComber provided the assist. Smith's next tally made the score 9-1 Grimsby with 8:31 left in the third period. Dillon Cipretti assisted on the tally.

The Peach Kings forced Storm's goalies to work in net, launching 88 shots and forcing 79 saves. Nathen McKinnon made 14 stops and Note Pursky made 65. Grimsby's goal total was higher than its season average. The Peach Kings average 3.8 goals per game.

Grimsby additionally got points from McComber, who also finished with one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Matthew Jambrosich, who also registered two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Grimsby included Curtis Conrad, who had two and Christian Gaetano and Andrew McMurtrie, who scored one goal each. More assists for Grimsby came via Liam McCrory, who had two, Joshua Kozielski, who had four, and Trevor McEneny, Jeromy Hopkins, Nick Carniello, Curtis Jacques, and Jeremy Currie, who contributed one each.

Simcoe was led by Austin Sloot, who scored the team's only goal. Sloot scored 11:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Simcoe. Taz Myers picked up the assist.

Jeremy Currie made 21 saves for Grimsby on 22 shots. The Peach Kings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Storm incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
