Niagara boosted by Charanduk's play in net, beats Hagersville 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Scott Charanduk helped the Niagara Riverhawks defeat the Hagersville Hawks, 4-1.

Niagara's penalty kill excelled, as the Riverhawks gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Niagara was paced by Alex Cipriano, who registered one goal. Cipriano scored 11:49 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Niagara. Drew Trendle assisted on the tally.

The Riverhawks stifled Hagersville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Niagara forced the Hawks goalie Horia Lucaciu to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Niagara also had goals scored by Lucas Marcon, Dawson Ethier, and Nick Manlow, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Niagara were Dylan Leifso, Patrick Norris, Dylan Lazarus, Luke Brackett, Peter Falivena, and Brandon McLean, who each chipped in one.

Hagersville could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Hawks average 3.9 goals per game. Hagersville's offense rang up 41 shots on the Riverhawks' net.

The Hawks were led by Brett Dykstra, who scored the team's only goal. Dykstra scored 8:44 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Niagara. Derek Friesen picked up the assist.

Niagara's Charanduk stopped 40 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Riverhawks incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Lucaciu rejected 32 shots on goal for Hagersville. The Hawks incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
