Dundas pulls away in second, rolls over Simcoe, 12-2Niagara Jr. C Head Office Thu, Jan 22, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Dundas Blues scored six goals in the second period to pull away from the Simcoe Storm and clinch a 12-2 win. Dundas got the win with help from a great game by Cooper Richards, who had two goals and three assists. Richards scored the first of his two goals at 3:12 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Dundas. Connor King picked up the assist. Richards' next tally made the score 11-2 Dundas with 19 seconds left in the third period. Cam McConnell provided the assist. The Blues forced Storm's goaltenders to work between the pipes, firing 64 shots and forcing 52 saves. Note Pursky made 21 stops and Leo Breton made 31. Dundas stifled Simcoe's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Blues outdid their season average for goals scored. Dundas has scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of the Blues were also effective in the Storm's zone, and came away with five goals. Dundas additionally got points from Nick McMullen, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Mitch Moriarity, who also registered one goal and one assist, Phoenix Schueler, who also had one goal and one assist, Matt Johnson, who also finished with one goal and three assists, and McConnell, who also racked up two goals and three assists. Dundas also had goals scored by Ray Thompson, who had two and Zac Mihalis and Braxton Andrews, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Dundas were Kevin Jaczenko and Luke Laurin, who each chipped in one and Liam Hurley and Alex Aquin, who contributed two each. Simcoe was helped by Drake Bailey, who tallied one goal. Bailey scored 16:14 into the second period to make the score 6-2 Dundas. Corson Searles picked up the assist. Simcoe also got a goal from Matt Small as well. In addition, Simcoe received assists from Kent Wardell, Ray Munroe, and Taz Myers, who each chipped in one. Dan Davies made 28 saves for Dundas on 30 shots. The Blues incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Storm incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
