Niagara outlasts Glanbrook, 4-3

The Niagara Riverhawks and the Glanbrook Rangers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Niagara made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Kyle Robertson's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Franklin Franck had two goals to lead the Riverhawks to victory. Franck scored short handed at 9:28 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while short handed 18:24 into the first to make the score 3-1 Niagara.

Niagara forced Glanbrook's netminders to work in net, firing 32 shots and forcing 28 saves. Jay Payton made 16 stops and Matthew Venturelli made 12. The Riverhawks struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 54 penalty minutes for 16 opposing power plays.

Niagara also got points from Robertson, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Dylan Lazarus, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Niagara came via Alex Cipriano, Zack Mulvale, Peter Falivena, and Brandon McLean, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers' offense rang up 33 shots on Niagara's net. Glanbrook's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

The Rangers were helped by Cameron Frail, who grabbed one goal. Frail scored on the power play 3:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Glanbrook. Glanbrook had gotten the advantage when the Riverhawks' Nick Manlow was sent off for inciting an opponent. Brad Parish provided the assist. Glanbrook additionally got points from Garnet Batrynchuk, who also registered one goal and one assist. Chad Carey also scored for Glanbrook. Other players who recorded assists for Glanbrook were Curtis Edwards, who had three.

Sebastian Iannone made 30 saves for Niagara on 33 shots. The Riverhawks registered two goals on five power play opportunities. The Rangers ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. Team's Kyle Dumais and Spencer Leenders were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
