Hagersville blows out Dundas, 6-2

The Hagersville Hawks had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Dundas Blues.

Hagersville got the win thanks to a great game by Matt Rimac, who had two goals and one assist. Rimac scored the first of his two goals at 8:59 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hagersville. Derek Friesen assisted on the tally. Rimac's next tally made the score 4-1 Hagersville with 16:17 left in the second period. Kyle Phibbs picked up the assist.

The Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dundas to score on any of its five power plays. Hagersville kept the Blues' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brock Novak made 25 saves on 31 shots.

Dan Mederios also scored for Hagersville. Other players who recorded assists for Hagersville were Cole Martin, who had one and Mitch Green, who had two.

Dundas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Hagersville power plays. The Blues could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Dundas averages 4.4 goals per game.

The Blues were led by Zac Mihalis, who grabbed one goal. Mihalis scored 19:34 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Hagersville. Cooper Richards assisted on the tally. Dundas also got a goal from Liam Hurley as well. In addition, Dundas received assists from Braxton Andrews, who had one.

The Hawks' Horia Lucaciu stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Hagersville ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For the Hawks, Nick Sherwood was ejected from the game. Dundas ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. Team's Kevin Jaczenko and Ryan Waterhouse were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
