Dunnville rips Simcoe, 9-2

The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats were firing on all cylinders against the Simcoe Storm, and when the final buzzer sounded Jr. Mudcats emerged with a 9-2 win.

Dunnville got the win behind a great game by Matt Dolan, who had two goals and one assist. Dolan scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:52 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Dunnville. A tripping penalty on Kent Wardell had put the Jr. Mudcats on the power play. Jeff May picked up the assist. Dolan's next tally on the power play made the score 4-0 Dunnville with 13:37 left in the second period. Mack Steele provided the assist.

Dunnville's penalty kill excelled, as the Jr. Mudcats gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Dunnville stifled Simcoe's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Mudcats forced the Storm goalie Leo Breton to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Dunnville surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Jr. Mudcats average 4.6 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Dunnville also got points from Bret Golding, who also registered one goal and one assist, Josh Meeuwse, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Evan Huckalo, who also had one goal and one assist, and Damien Lalonde, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Dunnville also got a goal from Luke Rowe as well. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Steven Czepek, Chad Springer, Dan Arrowsmith, and Brennan Head, who contributed one each.

Head rejected 24 shots on goal for Dunnville. The Jr. Mudcats incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Breton recorded 31 saves for Simcoe. The Storm incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
