Dunnville rips Niagara, 4-0

The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats were firing on all cylinders against the Niagara Riverhawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Jr. Mudcats emerged with a 4-0 win.

Dunnville was paced by Davis Hart, who had one goal. Hart scored on the power play 6:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dunnville. The Jr. Mudcats earned a power play opportunity when Dylan Lazarus was put in the box for interference. Matt Dolan picked up the assist.

Dunnville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Jr. Mudcats forced Niagara goalie Scott Charanduk to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Others who scored for Dunnville included Josh Meeuwse, Evan Huckalo, and Jeff May, who each put in one. More assists for Dunnville came via Mack Steele, Luke Rowe, and Chad Springer, who each chipped in one.

The Riverhawks' offense operated below their season average. Niagara averages 3.6 goals per game. The Riverhawks found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against Dunnville's defense. Niagara found itself short handed often, totaling 30 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

Josh Rosettani made 14 saves for the Jr. Mudcats on 14 shots. Dunnville incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Charanduk recorded 36 saves for the Riverhawks.
