Grimsby rolls over Niagara, 5-1

The Grimsby Peach Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Niagara Riverhawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Peach Kings emerged with a 5-1 win.

Grimsby was led by goalie Jeremy Currie, who finished with 35 saves while allowing one goal. Currie managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.32 prior to the game.

The Peach Kings were sparked by Michael Konkle, who had one goal. Konkle scored 19:21 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Grimsby. Brennan Smith picked up the assist.

Grimsby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Grimsby also got points from Smith, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Grimsby also had goals scored by Andrew McMurtrie, Curtis Conrad, and Malcolm Lynett, who each put in one. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Trevor McEneny, who had two and Dillon Cipretti, Aidan McCreadie, Liam McCrory, Derek Rotter, Eric Cerino, and Matthew Jambrosich, who contributed one each.

Niagara's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Grimsby power plays. The Riverhawks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Niagara puts an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. The Riverhawks' offense rang up 36 shots on the Peach Kings' net.

Grimsby incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Scott Charanduk rejected 25 shots on goal for Niagara. The Riverhawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. For Niagara, Dawson Ethier was ejected from the game.
