Hagersville outlasts Port Dover, 4-3Port Dover Sun, Dec 28, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hagersville Hawks gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Port Dover Sailors. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Nick Sherwood's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Hagersville was sparked by Sherwood, who grabbed one goal. Sherwood scored 18:36 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Hagersville. Dan Pugliese picked up the assist. In a losing effort, Port Dover was led by Michael Almas, who registered two goals. Almas scored the first of his two goals at 17:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Dover. Braden Roberts assisted on the tally. Almas' next tally made the score 2-1 Port Dover with 13:24 left in the second period. Roberts picked up the assist. The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Port Dover power plays. Others who scored for Hagersville included Cole Martin, Derek Friesen, and Jacob Solomon, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Hagersville were Jonathan Pace, John Monture, Mitch Green, Brayden Hill, and Matt Rimac, who each chipped in one. The Sailors' offense rang up 31 shots on Hagersville's net. Michael Boateng also scored for Port Dover. In addition, Port Dover received assists from Eric Mueller and Josh Miedema, who contributed one each. The Hawks' Lucaciu Horia stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Hagersville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mike Caluori made 21 saves for Port Dover on 25 shots. The Sailors incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
