Dunnville survives penalties, beats Port Dover, 6-2

The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Port Dover Sailors' power play opportunities and emerged with a 6-2 victory.

Dunnville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Jr. Mudcats kept Port Dover's goalie busy throughout the game, and #$self.jersey made 47 saves on 53 shots.

Dunnville was helped by Chad Springer, who racked up one goal. Springer scored 13:39 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dunnville. Dunnville also got points from #$self.jersey, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Dunnville included Jeff May, who had two and Steven Czepek and Josh Phibbs, who scored one goal each. More assists for Dunnville came via Evan Huckalo, who had two, Mack Steele, who had three, and Josh Meeuwse and Dan Arrowsmith, who each chipped in one.

The Sailors' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Dunnville power plays. Port Dover forced the Jr. Mudcats goalie Josh Rosettani to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots. The Sailors could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Port Dover also had goals scored by Michael Almas and Bryson Barr, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Port Dover were Braden Roberts, who had one.

Rosettani rejected 55 shots on goal for Dunnville. The Jr. Mudcats incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
