Glanbrook pulls away in second, rolls over Simcoe, 7-1Talbot Gardens Sun, Dec 14, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Glanbrook Rangers scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the Simcoe Storm and clinch a 7-1 win. Simcoe was stymied by Glanbrook's netminder Jay Payton, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Payton managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 4.34 prior to the game. The Rangers' penalty kill excelled, as Glanbrook gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. The Rangers stifled the Storm's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Glanbrook kept Simcoe's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kyle Poole made 29 saves on 36 shots. The Rangers bested their season scoring average. This season, Glanbrook averages 4.3 goals per contest. The Rangers were helped by Nathan Fiorino, who registered one goal and one assist. Fiorino scored on the power play 6:57 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Glanbrook. Glanbrook had gotten the advantage when the Storm's Sam McPherson was sent off for cross checking. Josh Pace provided the assist. Glanbrook additionally got points from Drew Jedrzejewicz, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Jeff May, who also had one goal and one assist, and Chad Carey, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cole Anderson also scored for Glanbrook. More assists for Glanbrook came via Jacob Comley, Kyle Dumais, Garnet Batrynchuk, Noah Matteson, and Owen Norton, who each chipped in one. Simcoe was held below its usual level of production. The Storm put an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Rangers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Simcoe incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
