Grimsby outlasts Hagersville, 4-3

The game between the Grimsby Peach Kings and the Hagersville Hawks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Grimsby emerged with a 4-3 win.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Derek Rotter at 17:09 of the third period.

The Peach Kings were led by Rotter, who finished with one goal and one assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:07 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Grimsby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Peach Kings kept Hagersville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jonah Capriotti AP made 37 saves on 41 shots.

Grimsby also had goals scored by Jeromy Hopkins, Curtis Conrad, and Brennan Smith, who scored one goal each. More assists for Grimsby came via Garnet McComber, Nicholas Purves, Griffin Roubos, and Malcolm Lynett, who contributed one each.

The Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Grimsby to score on any of its six power plays.

Hagersville was helped by Dan Mederios, who had one goal. Mederios scored 8:52 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Hagersville. Travis Bell picked up the assist. Others who scored for Hagersville included Jonathan Pace and Cole Martin, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Hagersville were Mitch Green, who had two.

Jeremy Currie rejected 26 shots on goal for the Peach Kings. Grimsby ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For the Peach Kings, Andrew Brown was ejected from the game. The Hawks ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Hagersville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nick Sherwood was ejected from the game.
