Huge game by Jambrosich boosts Grimsby over Glanbrook, 4-1

Behind a great game by Matthew Jambrosich, who had one goal and two assists, the Grimsby Peach Kings defeated the Glanbrook Rangers, 4-1.

Jambrosich beat Matthew Venturelli with a shot 17:47 into the second period on the power play to make the score 2-1 Grimsby. Grimsby had taken the advantage when Glanbrook's Chad Carey got sent off for slashing. Garnet McComber picked up the assist. Jambrosich dished an assist on McComber's goal that made the score 3-1 Grimsby at 1:57 into the third period. He added another helper on Brennan Smith's goal that made the score 4-1 Grimsby at 2:27 into the third period.

The Peach Kings kept the Rangers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Venturelli made 34 saves on 38 shots.

Grimsby additionally got points from McComber, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Smith, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Curtis Jacques also scored for Grimsby. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Trevor McEneny and Derek Rotter, who each chipped in one.

Glanbrook racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 13 minors and one major for 61 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game the Rangers had been spending in the box. Glanbrook's offense operated below its season average. The Rangers put an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game.

Glanbrook was led by Curtis Edwards, who scored the team's only goal. Edwards scored 12:14 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Owen Norton provided the assist.

Grimsby's Jeremy Currie stopped 16 shots out of the 17 that he faced. The Peach Kings incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Rangers registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Glanbrook ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Aaron Smith was ejected from the game.
