Dunnville rips Simcoe, 9-2

The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-2 win over the Simcoe Storm.

Jeff May had two goals and two assists to lead Dunnville. May scored the first of his two goals at 7:29 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dunnville. Luke Rowe picked up the assist. May's next tally made the score 5-1 Dunnville with 15:24 left in the second period. Rowe provided the assist.

Simcoe was unable to stop the Jr. Mudcats from sending pucks towards the net, and Dunnville eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. The Jr. Mudcats outdid their season average for goals scored. Dunnville averages 4.4 goals per game. The Jr. Mudcats' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Dunnville additionally got points from Josh Meeuwse, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Steven Czepek, who also grabbed two goals and two assists, and Chad Springer, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Dunnville included Andy Metzler, Davis Hart, and Dan Arrowsmith, who each put in one. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Matt Dolan, who had two and Mitch Holodnuik, Mack Steele, Damien Lalonde, and Josh Phibbs, who contributed one each.

The Storm were led by Ray Munroe, who registered two goals. Munroe scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:33 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Dunnville. Simcoe earned a power play opportunity when Steele was put in the box for cross checking. Kent Wardell picked up the assist. Munroe's next tally on the power play made the score 9-2 Dunnville with 7:23 left in the third period. The Storm had gotten the advantage when Dunnville's Hart was sent off for hooking. Dakota Culbert assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Simcoe were Matt Small and Riley Wilson, who each chipped in one.

Brennan Head recorded 18 saves for the Jr. Mudcats. Dunnville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kyle Poole rejected 34 shots on goal for Simcoe. The Storm incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
