Dunnville downs Simcoe, 8-5

The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats took home the win against the Simcoe Storm, 8-5.

Dunnville kept Simcoe's goalie busy throughout the game, and Note Pursky made 38 saves on 46 shots. The Jr. Mudcats bested their season scoring average. Dunnville averages 4.2 goals per game. The Jr. Mudcats' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Dunnville was led by Chad Springer, who racked up one goal and two assists. Springer scored 2:26 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Dunnville. Josh Meeuwse picked up the assist. Dunnville also got points from Meeuwse, who also registered one goal and two assists. Dunnville also had goals scored by Bret Golding, Evan Huckalo, Jeff May, Luke Rowe, Dan Arrowsmith, and Damien Lalonde, who each put in one. More assists for Dunnville came via Travis Sheldrake, who had two and Mark Topp, Ryan Hannigan, Mack Steele, and Josh Phibbs, who contributed one each.

The Storm put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Mudcats to score on any of their three power plays. Dunnville was unable to stop Simcoe from sending pucks towards the net, and the Storm eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Simcoe was helped by Tyler Nagy, who tallied two goals. Nagy scored the first of his two goals at 8:48 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Dunnville. Taz Myers assisted on the tally. Nagy's next tally made the score 3-2 Simcoe with 8:37 left in the second period. Myers picked up the assist. Simcoe additionally got points from Bryce Cadwell, who also had one goal and one assist. Dakota Culbert also scored for Simcoe. In addition, Simcoe received assists from Brad DeDecker, who had one and Drake Bailey, who had two.

The Jr. Mudcats' Josh Rosettani stopped 27 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Dunnville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. For the Jr. Mudcats, Davis Hart was ejected from the game. The Storm incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Simcoe ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ray Munroe was ejected from the game.
